How to be Charitable with Minimal Effort

I know it’s been a while since we’ve all posted, it’s been pretty hectic with graduations and other crazy time consuming activities. Now that things have settled we’re back on the grind with posts and a new layout on its way, so keep posted. As you wait here is something everyone can do to help out with very little effort. Just a couple of clicks can help out one or all of the charities above. All you have to do is click on the top button that says, “Help Feed the Hungry” etc. For every click each site will donate something, whether it be food, aid, mammograms etc. 100% of the sponsor advertising fees goes to the charities. So take 30 seconds out of your day to make the world a little better.

I guess it’s because the old man locked in the closet writing fortunes got sick and tired of it all, so here’s your chance to create your own. Nike Vision: Maxsight

Just got myself a pair of the grey-green Nike Maxsight contacts. Nike teamed up with Bausch & Lomb to create contact lenses to aid with blurriness during outdoor sports. They cover the whole pupil eliminating glare and enhancing contrast while blocking specific wavelengths of light for clearer details. They come in two shades, grey-green for golf, running, and training and amber for soccer, tennis, football, rugby, and baseball. Go to your eye doctor and give him this coupon, he’ll give you a pair for free. I’ll post more once I try them on the golf course.

I LOVE Anything To Do With Type!

Well actually I love food more than I love type, so when I came across this little puppy I was quite excited! Designer Chris Dimino, morphed food and type to create this delectable little treat. Another great plus, and everyone knows waffles need syrup, The Waffle Keyboard comes with four jars for syrup. I don’t know if this will be sold in stores anytime soon, but kudos for this nifty invention!

Cotton Factory

Since I was about 11/12 years old I’ve been into T-shirts. I don’t just mean any old t-shirts, but ones with some style, some originality, somethingotherthan the Polo, GAP normality that I encountered when shopping with my mother in my earlier years. I have collected shirts ranging from screen prints courtesy of my artistic friends, old electrician shirts (the ones with name tags on them), to the more recent styles of places like Threadless and my newest discovery….Cotton Factory.com. This is not your run of the mill site that offers designs that looked like they were thrown together in about 5 minutes. These are some very well thought-out ideas (ok some may have only taken 5 minutes, but they’re clever to say the least), shirts saying “My other car is a Transformer”, to the simple Atari (game console) symbol. So if you dig t-shirts or need to fill some closet space, check out Cotton Factory.

It seems like banksy is doing well for himself, last week his work “Space Girl and Bird” sold for 20 times the estimated, selling for �288,000 by a telephone bidder in the US. Along with the last painting, Banksy sold 3 more paintings �198,000, �75,000, �32,000. Now I just need to find him so I can ask him for some cash, if only we knew his identity.

On the Road: The Scroll of Jack Kerouac comes to NYC

For those of you who appreciate the writing during the beat generation here is a little something for those of you in select cities. Jack Kerouac’s “On the Road” was purchased in 2001 by Indianapolis Colts owner Jim Irsay for $2.43 million at Christies. In 2004, the scroll embarked on a 14 stop 4 year tour.It will be at the Denver Public Library through March 31, then continue to the Palace of the Governors in Santa Fe (April 13-May 28); Boott Cotton Mills Museum in Kerouac’s hometown of Lowell, Mass. (June 15-Sept. 14); and the New York Public Library (Sept. 28-Feb. 10, 2008). Tentative stops for 2008-2009 include Austin; Indianapolis; Chicago; Cincinnati; Birmingham, England; and Dublin.
